    Taconic, a global leader in the manufacture of PTFE coated fiberglass fabric, belts and tapes is seeking an SQL DBA/Developer for our corporate office in Petersburgh, NY. Responsibilities include managing SQL 2000/2005 database and designing/developing applications in Visual FoxPro/.NET along with Windows 2003 Server/Active Directory administration.

    Position Summary
    This position will involve 50% traditional administration tasks and 50% development tasks. Responsible for managing SQL 2000/2005 database and designing/developing applications in Visual FoxPro/.NET along with Windows 2003 Server/Active Directory administration.

    Primary Duties
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005 database administration
    • Designing and creating tables/views/indexes/triggers
    • Developing applications in Visual FoxPro, asp.NET and vb.NET platform
    • Writing reports in Visual FoxPro
    • Import and export data from Excel
    • Identify data sources, provide data flow diagrams and document the processes
    • Develop, test and implement new systems to be used by Taconic
    • Research and recommend hardware and software development, purchase and use
    • Write and maintain system documentation
    • Performance tuning and troubleshooting of SQL server performance issues
    • Assist with the SQL Server upgrades from 2000 – 2005

    Occasional Duties
    • Windows 2003 Server/Active Directory Server administration
    • Perform server operating system, hardware and software installations
    • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems, including user access and component configuration
    • Cross train to be able to act in absence of MIS Manager and Support Specialist as needed
    • Other duties as assigned

    Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Attributes
    Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, four years experience in Microsoft SQL Server database administration and programming experience in Visual FoxPro, and .NET platforms. Experience writing complex SQL/T-SQL and stored procedures. Must have working knowledge of relational databases, database structures and design. Experience with Windows Server 2003/2008 required. Experience with any of the following is a plus:

    • Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
    • Disaster Recovery Management
    • Active Directory
    • Symantec Backup Exec.
    • Power Shell scripting
    • Made2Manage ERP/Fastform
    • EMC CX300 Administration
    • Iron Speed
    • PHP
    • Zetafax

    Must have good organizational, communication and relationship building skills along with attention to detail. Must have ability to assist with technical support problems/issues and devise a solution to prevent them. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with ability to prioritize based on changing work conditions. Must demonstrate ability to learn new skill sets.

    Production Operators
