Taconic Brazil Celebrates Grand Opening
On November 7, 2006 Taconic celebrated the Grand Opening of Taconic Brazil, located 20 miles Southwest of Sao Paulo in Itapecirica da Serra. Taconic Brazil is a Subsidiary of Taconic, a global manufacturer of advanced engineered composite materials headquartered in New York State. The event was attended by prominent members of the local government and the Brazilian business community. Among those present were Mr. Jorge Costa, Mayor of Itapecirica da Serra, Mr. Antonio Trolesi, Vice Mayor, members of the city council, representatives of DuPont, Dow Corning, Porcher do Brazil, P-D Interglass, and many Taconic customers.
Taconic CEO Andy Russell outlined plans for Taconic Brazil, which include substantial expansion over the next few months and years. He said “This is an exciting moment for Taconic. We expect to see continued growth of the Brazilian economy and plan to be an integral part of that growth. This facility is an important element of our plan for an ever-widening global presence in growing markets, like Brazil.” Taconic Brazil General Manager Volfi Siegfried Bauer welcomed all the guests and offered a special thanks to Mayor Costa and his team. “Mr. Costa and his staff have been a great help in making this all possible. We look forward to a continued positive working relationship with the local community as we grow.” Mayor Costa said “It has been a pleasure meeting Mr. Russell, who together with Senor Bauer had the initiative of establishing Taconic in our city. It is an honor to have this internationally known company here participating in the growth of our city and of Brazil.”
